Is the Cheers bar of the thread really closing down? I guess, just like the TV show, the characters took their contracts and went home. Up here in NJ. Started with a load from the Claremont yard (got a BOSE seat installed and headlamp replaced. Laid over 20 hours waiting for a load then got one to South Hackensack NJ. Backhaul from same area at a place called HOME DYNAMICS. Now I know why I got off the yard before many of my counterparts. No pull up space at all here. Took me awhile but got the trailer backed in with the tractor jacked. Screw the cosmetics! Went over to my second pickup and pulled up as the workers were leaving. Union workers so I knew I was laying over. At least bossman let me sleep here. Amazingly quiet! Come on 8am!!
jaso37 Thanks this. -
That the home dynamics on empire Blvd where you have to back 90 through the gate then hook a 90 to the dock? we do both if them there's one on empire and the other one a street over on carol place.
Awful places. -
Yep Empire Blvd. Only I drove straight through the gate and managed to turn around without busting the cab extender. Ugh! Comforting to know others have struggled with that place. Had to have a car moved just to get to the gate.

Oh yeah I know it well. They're a regular supplier for us.
I hang an right coming in, then back down through the cars, the gate, then hook it into the dock. Takes awhile and I always try to make sure I have a 48 going in there but doesn't always work out that way lol I cringe every time I see home dynamics in the assignment. The one a street over is almost as bad but not quite.
You did #### good turning around back there and not tearing anything up. I didn't even try it lol

Getting the otr experience is never going to hurt you...and grass is never greener on the other side too
gntorres61 and jdmredneck33 Thank this. -
OTR experience will open up many more doors of opportunity. It is tough not just the job but the life style but that is why a lot of companies want that experience.
jdmredneck33, gntorres61 and Crazy driver1972 Thank this. -
JDM, trucking in general is no bed of roses. I like the travel that OTR gives you. Guess I am a vagabond with gypsy blood and a mix of diesel fuel. You just gotta figure out what drives you. If you can stick it out, a year definitely looks better. Hang in there, man. It really does go by fast. If TA hadn't starved me out, I'd still be there, but I would now be looking for the gig I now have. Hope it works out for ya.
