Ripping off my tax dollars more like it. Training IS expensive. But 10 grand. No way.
The Patriot and Mudguppy Thank this. -
Never mind i read this post and it explains it all http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...hr-vs-540hr-course.290519/page-2#post-4866824 all those fro profit schools are for the government money

Well, I'd rather my tax money go to put someone to work instead of loading up an EBT.
win-some-loose-less, The Patriot, SHOJim and 6 others Thank this. -
All in two weeks of training and 1 year of being paid .25 cpm, right? No wonder there's a "driver shortage"... they can't rip them off fast enough! My son did an 8 week course 6 months ago in a local Community College. Cost was $500.00- he has been working ever since being local and bringing home about 800 a week.

I hear what some people pay and it's insane... a 8 week course to drive a truck? Seriously? I think for most people a day or two putting around and you're probably good to go. Most of my friends just borrowed a truck and booked a road test for 300$ and bam... going trucking the no BS way.
Canned Spam Thanks this. -
Yeah, I never went to school either. Drove a rental truck around the parking lot until I got a feel for it. Learned everything else on channel 19. Those days are gone now tho...

I got mine from Trican (I usually try not to admit it in public ;p) when they would pay you to take a two day in house course then turn you loose in a bulker cause they were cheapest to fix. Do oilfield companies do that in the states? I think those days are gone too...
-
3 weeks @ 5k here...week one was drug screen, med cards and all the 5 million apps for pre hires they got a kickback for. Week 2 on the range backing etc, end of week 2 and week 3 driving then back to the range before you get a testing date.

$62.50/wk for community college? Sure you didn't miss a zero there?
