Especially a babysitter who doesn't know a #### thing to begin with. Honestly after researching the trucking industry a little more in depth on here, you couldn't pay me enough to drive for a mega carrier.Tonythetruckerdude, Crassius and flyingmusician Thank this.

I drive for a smaller company that runs forward & driver facing cameras and I don’t think it’s a big deal. The only time they look at the video is if there is a complaint on the driver or accident. I have been in a few different trucks because of what I pull and the cameras were not working (card full or fell off mounts) and told them about it. They did not fix them while I was in them. The new truck I am in now, 2012 KW T800 day cab, the camera is working and shows my speed and that matches the trucks speedo & my GPS, used as a tool.
During orientation they showed us a video of one of their drivers crash video. It was not the drivers fault as they found out later from the video it was medical. This saved the drivers life and others as this could of happened if he was to drive for another company later.
I feel if you are doing your job right there is nothing to fear and so what if they see me picking my nose it gives them something to talk about
Dave ----BuckeyeKev Thanks this. -
Forward facing cameras im fine with. If you need to watch me do my job that you said I was qualified to do then I guess Im not that qualified in your eyes. The driver facing cameras come from guys and gals that never should have been in a truck. EOBR let you know where im at if I turn to fast and slam on brakes and reduces paper logs. Im cool with that also. But if your worried about what im doing then take out my radio ac controls cruise control any "distraction" i might have. If you call me a PROFESSIONAL DRIVER then treat me like one.
JV_620, bottomdumpin, Tonythetruckerdude and 1 other person Thank this. -
Those driver facing cameras also record sound.
They don't do anything positive at all for the driver.
"So mr truck driver" the lawyer says, "it appears you have anger management issues."
Next thing you know you are mentally unstable etc....bottomdumpin and Crassius Thank this. -
Well do you?

I don't but throw out an f bomb during a critical event that isn't even your fault and no doubt that footage is going to be used against you by some slime ball lawyer.
So no, I don't, I just believe in protecting my best interest instead of giving someone else ammo against me that can be twisted into something it isn't. I would think every driver would want to do that but I guess not.mrdot, Crassius and stevez57305 Thank this. -
Its getting to the point now with mass ownership of camera phones and (un)social media that no one can have an expectation to not ever be filmed/recorded/photographed. I wouldn't be surprised if the CIA was trying to watch me through the selfie cam on my phone as I type this. (Puts on tinfoil hat and covers camera with masking tape)stevez57305 and BuckeyeKev Thank this.

at least with Facebook you can turn that "feature" off. Or you can do what I do and not even have a Facebook account. I'll call/email/text if I need to get ahold of you.
stevez57305 and 91B20H8 Thank this.
