The line at vinvale has been backed up out the gate lately, the switch to winter blend messed up their vapor system. Having everyone load single arm only. Also LAT has had some lanes down lately. Got 3 days off hopefully everything is fixed by the time I get back.

I have recently started at Groendyke in Denver hauling fuel. My Veeder Roots are always spot on to the correct number of gallons dropped (minus any loss from a busy station), but my stick readings are rarely spot on. Any tips for getting accurate stick readings? I'm always within a few inches of the electronics, but it'd be nice to be more accurate.

When putting your stick in the tank make shure it is on the bottom by pulling it up and down a few times while in the tank as they can get caught on the valve inside. Also after dropping product your stick readings maybe off a little as it is still moving inside the tank.

I was told that stick height and veeder root height will never match because they are measured differently. In fact some veeder root print outs even have a separate "stick height" reading that should more closely match what your stick shows. We stick for water, not inches. Now with that said, if you stick a tank before you drop 8000 gallons and it shows like 75 inches, then take a step back because something aint right. But if the veeder root shows 20 and your stick shows 35, bombs away.

Speedwagon, just go by whichever your company tells you to use for your documentation. We always went by stick, b/c VR sensors can (and do) fail, lose calibration, etc.

Well I go by the stick, because the stick can't lie. Some guys don't stick the tank, but we are supposed to. To me, the risk of dropping 8k into a tank that can only hold another 5k is worth the extra minute or might take me. I'm just trying to improve my routine, while it is still fresh and forming. I let it settle a little today, after the drop and that seemed to improve my readings.
