Think one of the first things i will buy is that $100 program that i can put on my laptop. I am sure that will help keep an eye to make sure i am not illegal when i think i am legal, since this is all new to me.
Not sure if you can PM me or not (i know i cant since i dont have 50 posts) but anything else you'd recommend a newbie? I've seen the posts on here regarding the list of things to pack for class/with your trainer, etc.
I am somewhat of a stickler for procedure, and a perfectionist. -
Logs, I believe he was counting "today" after his shift was over and was included in previous 7 days. I don't think he was proposing to skip recap but was making explanation simplified as not to confuse the poster.

Does the computer program replace the need for a paper log book? Or is it just a tool to help keep the paper log valid???
-
If your company accepts the DDL logs then it can replace the paper logbook, otherwise you can use it as a reference and to keep track of your hours, etc. However, DO NOT (get caught) run(ning) DDL as a second log book (I believe they discuss this on the DDL website).

The program doesn't, if you drive for a company that uses paperless logs, then that does, sort of, but anyone using DDL to replace a logbook needs to be able to print it out and sign it every day.
The sort of is that if your Big Brother device malfunctions, you may have to do it on paper until you get it going again.
It's a way to do your logbook without the ruler or freehand drawing the lines and it does all of the calculations for you.
I don't use it. Company policy doesn't allow it because we have Big Brother, but they don't use that, either.
