    The more I read on here about other companies, it is my prayer that I will be able to be accepted by Melton when I get my CDL at the end of Jan.

    I know they aren't perfect, but from what have read they do more and care more for their drivers than the majority of carriers. And the Cameras? My feelings are this when you have the amount of money invested in equipment and cargo as well as the driver why wouldn't you want to protect yourself in this lawsuit happy nation of ours. I have spent a lot of time in the Navy and some time in the Army, I have seen and see every day what stupid looks like. Does it mean I'll like it (cameras) TBD? but I see the point of them. My too cent$.

    If they can't trust you (or anybody else) to do the job right without spying on you every second, they should fold up their tent and go home, investment be dammmmmd

    I read a post about another company where a (4 wheeler) driver committed suicide by running head on into one of their trucks, truck driver is in critical condition and the hope is the camera footage will show no fault of the driver/company when the family lawyer comes calling for a wrongful death suit.

    My mother was killed in a truck accident trying to avoid another truck accident in front of her. Sure enough some shark lawyer came calling wanting my father a 30 year vet of otr/O/O to sue the company that hit her. She crossed his path with no way of escape for him in her effort to avoid the accident in front of her again no fault of that driver. A camera would have shown that. Just saying they have there uses at least I can see. And if your doing what your suppose to to be doing whats the big deal. Again my 2 cent$.

    I'm not defending the camera just stating a fact - the camera always records but has 16 seconds of memory - if an accident is detected it saves 8 seconds before and 8 after the accident then transmits it over the cell towers once it's in range . If you don't like it that's fine but it's also not as big of a deal as many think Noone cares what u do every second

    No one cares until they do care. Like I said before...

    I guarantee you the camera is not for the drivers benefit. It's to protect the trucking company. Don't think for one minute that they won't throw you under the bus to protect themselves.

    okay and a forward facing camera could have shown the suicidal head on crash to clear the truck driver just fine.

    But if some lawyer sees the driver in driver facing camera he will break that down to blame the driver for not reacting in time because he blinked too often or reached for the radio controls etc etc.

    you really wanna give more tools for lawyers to screw over truckers? pssh :biggrin_25513:
