Correct! It was a Syrian CDL and he was working for a Canadian company. Since there was no way to verify his ID and he only had a inkjet copy of his green card type documents he wasn't able to be positively identified. The guy did have insurance paperwork though(that turned out to be forged) His company got in big trouble but I don't have more details

Wow. I wonder what the rules are for driving on overseas (non North American) CDLs? It should be a very temporary situation if allowed at all. Incredible.
The biggest thing I see like that is the mill of Eastern European drivers (they sound Russian) who come out of Chicago. They seem to only drive Volvos and always wear track pants and flip-flops. -
It is just as bad around BRAMPTON ONTARIO CANADA as it is in CHICAGO for the White Volvos and unknown nationality of drivers that may or may not have legit paperwork such as CDL and Insurance

You do realize Jerry Reed Was Never A truck driver, don't you? He was signed as a recording artist at Capital Records at age 18. While he may have driven a truck during his 2 years in the Army, he never drove commercially OTR.

I hope this is a joke and not a serious question. I was born at night...not last night.MJ1657 Thanks this.

As far as "old school" there never has been. "Old school" is always in the past. Old school in the '90s was the 70 and 80s. Old school in the 70 was the 50s and 60s. Every generation has always felt that the past where better times. It has always been that way. In 2030, what we are doing now will be "old school". An old driver will say "Darn it boy, I can remember when a truck driver had to actually drive the darned truck! You know, them darned things used to actually have a thing called a steering wheel in them! Big old round thing that set right in front of the recliner seat. Course them seats didn't actually recline back in them days."
Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
There are many people who do consider him a hero or a role model because he acted out an unrealistic portrayal of our industry in a movie. He was a singer, songwriter and actor. And while he was very good at those things, he isn't a role model for our industry. I was just putting that out there for those among us who may consider him a role model. I wasn't trying to bug any one person in particular.

Well then next time you try to "enlighten" the group...don't quote a "particular poster" so one isn't "bugged".MJ1657 Thanks this.

I have had people quote a post of mine to make a broader point to a bigger group. I'm not "bugged" when they do that. Sorry you misunderstood my comment or intent. Have a great day!
