You guys all forget to mention, when you do a slip seat 7 on/7 off thing, the truck gets parked at the nearest terminal.
So factor in a round-trip commute to the truck (wherever that is).

This sort of schedule is not unheard of. Celedon had something like it for older experienced drivers who still needed to work just not as hard. Don't know if you can swing it as an inexperienced driver. One thing is for sure, unless you are an owner operator with a like minded company, you are going to be in a different tractor every time. That would be the deal breaker for me.

I have another idea for someone who wants to drive part time and I want to see what you guys think about it.

For someone who wants to work part time what about this.............

You drive with someone who normally drives solo as a team on a part time basis.

You go out on the road for a set time and then you go home for a set time. Basically out half the time, home half the time. 7/7 14/7 14/14 whatever.

It gives the solo driver some time to earn some extra money driving as a team, but not all the time. The solo driver gets a break etc...... It also allows the driver who wants to work part time to maximize their income while driving and to go out with the same person in the same truck every time so there is more of a routine involved that is more comfortable. Also, the truck wouldn't sit, no slip seating etc...

What do you guys think of this idea?

If you where a solo driver would this be something you would be interested in, driving team part time to earn some extra income?

Do you think carriers would be OK with this?

To add another company to the list of those that offer part time.

Interstate offers 7/7, 14/7 but only out of their terminals. Slip seating of course.
