I started out sleeping with my head on the driver side but I switched to sleeping with my head on the passenger side. I've only been driver 2.5 years. The main reason why i switched is because to me it seems like most truck stop backing accidents bust up the driver side part of the tractor. Maybe I'm over cautious or paranoid but I think my chances of my head getting squashed like a watermelon in the middle of the night are less sleeping with my head on the passenger side.

But then, if your feet get smashed you won't be driving any more either.

I think I would rather have my head smashed, than not be able to drive or walk any more.

And, while at the terminal today, I noticed a truck parked in the back that was missing the entire right half.
It was like a knife just cut it away.

But I guess it would not make much of a difference in that situation...
Losing your top half, or bottom.

Actually I I suppose you can drive with a damaged leg since I talked to another one legged driver at a dinner one time. I think it was her left, she must have been driving an auto shift

i keep a small level in the bunk, I sleep with my head to the high side. I have been thinking about putting a sheet of plywood under my mattress so I can raise one way or the other, but haven't got around to it yet.

If you put enough materials down in your nest then you can do what you like as far as being in equilibrium of what you think of as level.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who tries to find a level parking spot or park so your head is on the high end.

Great topic. I can only sleep with my head on the driver side. Prefer head higher than feet. I have been known to drive up on some blocks we carry..

Seen a few trucks with a block of wood under one tire to raise that side up

Are you "I need to be level" folks baby boomers? Only reason I ask is because my Pops acts like that when we go camping... Always trying to situate his tent just right. Meanwhile I just set mine up somewhere I think I'll sleep decently. .. I rarely consider level when parking unless it's a very harsh grade. If you carry enough nesting materials with you then there should be no problems.
