Hey there everybody. Yeah, I've been among the missing for a while. I left WEL a month ago, and went back to washing windows. They called and asked if I'd want to work as a casual driver, and that sounded good for me. now I'm waiting to see if they really want me back.

Made it back home despite the best efforts of the TN highway dept. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say it involves Clarkesville, the construction superintendent, the planner that placed the signs and decided what messages to put on them, the person in charge of the TN traffic webpage, and a golf club party.

Likewise, sorry to hear about the barn.

Sounds like you probably know a trash barrel can usually contain the blast from an aerosol can until it gets too rusty. Or so I've heard LOL

I have the Apple IIe that my folks bought for me towards the end of high school, on the way to college for some kind of computer learnin. To be fair, I did complete the degree about 15 years later. The Apple PC served more as an inspiration to get started, than it ever actually helped with anything. I take that back. I was able to use it in a COBOL class to put code on a 5.25" disk at home, then drop it off at the mainframe window for a run. That saved me from the bank of punchcard machines, and their confetti bins.

It probably still works. It was loaded, having the 256k ram expansion, a disc drive, and an orange (not green) monitor. Also a dot matrix printer with it. I think it was up close to $3,000 by the time we loaded everything in the car. That was a bargain, as we bought it at the COMDEX show, back when that was a thing.

When they eventually pass, I will inherit a virtual home computer museum. Every PC they've ever used to support their business since the '80s. They never sell or throw anything away, and just about everything in perfect working order.

I feel very strongly both ways about the financing. Loading too much principal on the note just increases the risk of something happening before it pays out IMO. The only time I do that is on a super low or no interest deal. Even then, I don't like running it longer than necessary. Two truck deals I've done had 12 and 10 month terms. I pay what I can stand up front, then as short a term as I can manage without too much risk. Next thing you know, it's paid off, and that much more money stays in the bank each month.

@Flatbed Valkyrie I can't imagine making a $2,600 note on just a truck, I don't care what you're earning with it. Well, actually I can, and have considered it. Downtime and limited service options on new truck gremlins convinced me otherwise. Business comes and goes, but that note will come around whether or not. Plenty of pre-emission trucks out there for the taking in good condition for under $20k. Then spend cash as you have it for upgrades and comfort. If you gotta have something nicer than a Columbia or a 9400, maybe spend a little more. I suggest you question your attachment to that truck you've been driving and look around for a better deal. I know you probably want to do the best for family, but I see you've already seen how that works LOL.

Edited to add: I see, that's a nice truck. Good luck on the deal.
