I need tips on how to stay fit on the road that long! I have serious snacking problems and I mean without exercise I'll definitely be packin on the pounds in no time. Any suggestions on how to get into a healthy routine? :)

Ounce of prevention vs pound of cure.

    Snack healthier.

Try Insanity its just 30 minutes a day and with that you can eat whatever you want, the down side is that with Insanity you get a sweat shower, I don't know if truckers get to shower everyday, but that is my plan don't know if I could execute it, do insanity, sweat like a pig, then take a shower, eat what ever I want, seat on my ### for half the day driving, repeat.

    It's simple.

    Don't snack!
    How hard is that?

I don' t exercise at all.
    I don't snack, either.
Guess what? I am not overweight.
I am just over 6 feet tall and weight about 175.
And I don't do ANYTHING to keep it that way, except to not keep putting food into my mouth all day.

I prepare and eat one good meal at the end of a day, and I'll usually have a (1) hot dog or something before that during my drive.
A morning coffee and water during the day (or a flavoured low sugar water something) other than that.
So, I allow myself 1 'snack' per day.

You get exercise just doing the job. But your eating habits (and the actual food that you consume) have more to do with your overall health.

I seldom get sick. The last time was just over 3 years ago.
No cold, no flu, no anything.
Much of that is because of what I eat.

Depending on the kind of fit you want to be?

    I jog,
I avoid going into the truck stop hungry(trust me)
Drink over a gallon of water
    Avoid too much sugar
    Carry 25 pound Dumbells
I do crunches/push-ups outside the truck

Not a big list but I'm 210 and I still play basketball a lot for cardio even like to stop at new 24 hour finesses in different states to see how they are when I have time lol. I'm have a higher vertical Than most people my size or taller. But that's another story lol

I try to jump rope for 5 to 10 minutes before I take a shower. If you like snacking then snack on more fruits and nuts (trail mix) than sweets. Cut back on soda and salt while drinking more water. Even walking for a few minutes a day will help. And keep a good atitude you will be surprised at much that helps too. And by the way you look great so be safe out there.

Bring a bicycle, and ride. I do pull ups in the truck prison style on the top bunk.

Lots of water, no truckstop junk when I can help it

Will power, will power, will power! If you absolutely must snack, bring along some fruit and drink plenty of water. Exercise during your downtime, even if it means just taking a walk. Waiting to get loaded/unloaded? Do some basic exercises like push ups, jumping jacks, etc if the weather is cooperating.

I'm not excessively overweight (more of a short, stocky build) and it always amazes me how much better I feel when I try to eat healthier and exercise a bit. Good luck.

try walking more. try parking further away from the truck stop building, as an example. try healthier snacks like fruit, dried fruits, maybe raisins, nuts. i'd stay away from almonds however. then may be high in protein, but my dentist says that more people crack thier teeth on those hard almonds.

stay away from sugary drinks, try only fruit juices (unsweet) and sugar free sodas as well. try not to use sugar in your coffee.

try some truck stops that have a work out room. you may want some privacy as you do this, as so many male truckers have never seen a female ever and will stare at you in your tights.

if you have a sleeper truck, do some type of work out in there

you can do this, but it is after all, YOU and you alone that can get it done.

good luck, it can be difficult, but YOU have to have the will power.
