My husband drives a 2012 Freightliner and has the XM EZ Onyx with a car kit. He tried the antenna that came with it, no luck. He tried a TRAM no luck, switched sides of the truck and still nothing. Multiple antennas, cables and positions. Any idea what's going on? He has mirror mounts and they didn't help either.

the radio will usually say something like: 'no connection' ; does his radio have that on the screen or does it show a channel playing ?
-
the connecting cable could be bad; the small wires inside the connectors are very fragile, likewise the connection to the radio is very fragile also rendering the radio a piece of junk.
-
yeah mine said damaged antenna or something. The right truck stop will sell a strong replacement wire for $20 something.
-
It's done both. He's tried the antenna that came with it, plus the TRAM with two separate cables. It now says a channel, but no signal worth anything.
-
What should he be looking for?

I have the same radio and I use the antenna it came with, works really well for me. I didn't buy any other antenna. All you have to do is run the antenna outside the cab, tape it above the windshield, out in front. It's waterproof/weatherproof. So, no problem. I've had mine taped out there for about a year now, still good. But if you break your antenna, just call customer service, give them your radio ID and get a free replacement antenna.kelgar50 Thanks this.

He's OTR right now, so he won't have down time until this weekend. I'll keep you updated. Thanks!
