Obviously it fits the data port in my 2014 CHU MP8/mDRIVE Mack truck. But what is it and what does it do? I found it in the door underneath my truck manual. From what I understand since I've been in the truck it hasn't been installed. But what does it do?

Looks to be the cover for the port so dirt and stuff don't get into the port. Looks like,it was forgotten to be put back after they unplugged their computer.

it's like a thumb drive. information gets uploaded to it, the mechanic plugs it into his pc or laptop, downloads the information. sometimes he clears it when done.

i really do not know, but i am going to take a shot at it and see if i am correct when someone that knows exactly what it is chimes in.
I say based on the shape of the plug and the mechanic warning on the sticker, that it is a cover for your diagnostic port or a wireless adapter for your diagnostic port.

I didn't show it well in the picture but it has pins on the inside like it actually plugs into the computer. I would tend to agree with one of the posts about that it is a jump drive for a mechanic to use. It is way too big to be a cover for the port because It would stick out too far and might get bumped.

I think if you plug it in it will make your truck invisible. Just make sure you remember where it's parked...

I think it speaks volumes of the quality of "mechanics" in this industry when the factory actually had to label a part that it belongs to the truck owner and not to throw it away.
