So, are you saying that SNI is keeping two sets of logs??? Because, what you are suggesting is that our logs are now based off of distance rather than time. And there is no ELD that will record in seconds versus minutes. And GPS is only accurate to + or - 50 feet. Quite frankly, you are sounding very paranoid.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
The GPS tracker is a separate program from the elog. Every time the tractors brakes are set it sends Omnitracs the latitude and longitude, down to 20 feet or so. If you are moving the truck outside the hours of service a program will notice and flag a violation.
For example last spring a TE made it to the customer with 00:00 on his 11. The next morning his dbl got a message about his 'violation'. After much back and forth they figured out that the movement of dropping and bobtailing to a parking spot showed 'driving' when no drive time was available.
It's not really a second set of logs but it will be enough to screw everyone if they end up in court. -
It's not paranoia it's fact I was shown mine during my annual recert.
It's again not a log it's a daily activity report that is not tied to your logs as I stated it only shows on the log once the threshold is met which was 5 minutes now the threshold is unknown.
The activity log is based on the truck not the driver.Home_on_wheels, Vilhiem and Pork Chop Express Thank this. -
I arrived at receiver and checked in...went off duty...dropped trailer and drove to other side of building, then drove to the side I just came from looking for my trailer. It went to driving and counted 17 minutes. I guess I'll have to start adding an extra hour to everything I do. Messing my trip planning up. This seems like it is going to hurt me bad.

you'll adjust. would likely be a good idea to shut the truck off when you can. Auto flips it to on duty.
Had you not seen the qcomm messages? or been here in the last week?tucker, Vilhiem and Pork Chop Express Thank this. -
Yeah I've been on here and new about it. Just wasn't expecting it to flip me to driving at the receiver so quick...Hopefully I'll figure it out. Thx
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
I have a feeling that shutting the truck off may reset the "counter". Not positive though.
No matter what this will cut 10-20 minutes off my day. Just getting out of the T/S can take 15 minutes some mornings.Pork Chop Express and Vilhiem Thank this. -
There *are* two sets of logs, but not in the way that the DOT can see (that I'm aware.).
Your QC registers movement even if you don't travel a mile. The thing is, it's possible to travel 3-4 miles and never have your QC show driving status... (It can be done...but I'm not explaining how. Though, it may no longer be possible.)
SNI knows this and keeps a movement log (so to speak) that they can compare what you did with what you logged.
The bottom line is that if you move 100ft, SNI knows you have moved even if your logs don't reflect it.Home_on_wheels and TennMan Thank this. -
Your key is going to be timing. The QC logs in 5 minute increments, so if you're stopped for less than 5 minutes then you run the risk of running into what you're talking about.
Pace yourself and be extra thorough on pre/post trips. Doing so never hurt anyone and some drivers need practice.............
Shut the tractor off when it's not moving as well.
You'll figure it out from there.
I think, and I'll be testing it this morning, if just before you leave you manually set it to another duty status, it might not do that.
So my thought is if you set it (for instance) to off duty after your pretrip, and just before you pull off do it again, then it may not change.Pork Chop Express Thanks this. -
This has me thinking that if you have a clean record and are productive they let things slide...I have used tractor for personal errands(a few times) while doing a restart and no one says boo.
I also log pre-trips at 11 minutes.Vilhiem Thanks this.
