And yes, it's gonna suck BIG TIME when the snow starts flying here. Most gas stations don't plow. And when they do, the guy usually puts a fair amount right where I need to be.

UPS and FedWrecks got burned bad on service failures during the holidays 2 yrs ago, due to lack of capacity. Last year, in an attempt to boost capacity and avoid a repeat, they leased a bunch of trailers from wherever they could get them. Including other mega carriers. Then contracted a bunch of outside carriers to move them. I know a few folks that signed up.

Problem was, there was no boom last season. Those guys I know did more sitting than earning. I predict the same will happen this year too. Looks like at least UPS is still renting other people's trailers as a hedge, just in case.

 

Speaking of pot, last night (undisclosed, but I'm still in KY) I was in the speedway getting the gas levels, and there was a local AND county cop inside chatting away. Finished unloading, talking to the manager, getting signatures, she says that those two used to do meth together. Comforting.
