need a new cb set up

First do you live in a community that restricts out door antennas? If so that limits your options. You can pickup a vertical base antenna for around 100 bucks then you'll have to look at mounting solutions, eave mount, chimney mount, telescoping pole, used tower. You can sometimes find tv towers free for removal and they will stand the wind load of a vertical 10/11 meter antenna. A radio upgrade to one with a little better filtering would be nice, but your antenna system is a big factor in getting the best performance out of any radio you use. Beam antennas with rotators will focus your signal better than a omnidirectional vertical but are a bit pricey. A simple 11 meter wire dipole would be a cheap antenna solution if you have trees to hang it from. It would be horizionally polarized which some suggest would be better for long distance conversations than local. It also would be more directional in nature than a vertical so you would have to pick your favored direction.

 

I have never figured out the copy and paste thing for links. you can do a search for on ebay or google Antron 99 antennas, Solarcon Imaxx antennas, base cb antennas, Antenna masts, base antenna mounts, antenna towers. When you see something you like narrow your search also look at the related results as there may be suggestions that would work for you. Here are a few suppliers that may have something to interest you. Amateur Electronic Supply, The Antenna Farm, Bob's cb Shop, Ham Radio Outlet. There are many suppliers out there that specialize in cb equipment.

I do not know where you are at and whether you may be interested, but just as an option. Check craigslist in your area, you may find something similar.

That's about the best and most expensive vertical antenna ever made for 11 meters.

 

That video was about 1 minute too long! lol Some would argue this one is the best ground plane.

 

I don't see a ground plane on that Sirio antenna

 

They call it a 3/4 wave ground plane. Good long distance antenna.
