LOL,.. I've contemplated that. My only problem is, besides finding a perfect tree to park under. I have no idea how I would go about sanding and painting the top of the sleeper. Besides,.. I'm not too crazy about heights in the first place. 10ft ladders give me vertigo.
Any place that ever loaded me with a tall load that needed to be tarped,.. they laid out the tarps or it didnt get tarped. I tell brokers that too. Cancel the load,.. I make a better gorilla than monkey.

The pins on our couplings are 50mm or 2". They are good for dragging a 170 ton roadtrain with 4 trailers. They are Ringfeder or VBG, but I think we've got Rockinger as well, or they might be part of another brand. All made in Germany. The 50 mm Ringfeder is around $1200.

 

Well if you happen to break a leaf spring on your front axle and you are friends with my boss, I get to spend all day driving through this to bring you another truck and pick up the broken one. BTW we chained the front axle so it would not move and drove it onto the trailer.

 

Sounds about righ Oz. I didn't know that's how you guys connected your road trains, but if makes sense, a pintle couldn't handle what you guys do either.
I don't actually operate these things, I work around/beside them frequently so my knowledge is limited to periphery. That $6k was mounted to the truck. There is a lot of structure that needs to be built and tied into the rear cross members. As far as I know, no mfg's install these, so it's all done on rig up locally.

If you look closely at my trailer you can see the cross member which the Ringfeder is bolted to. I bought that trailer new and all the roadtrain couplings and extra air lines and electrics came with it. It costs around $2500 to get those extras nowadays.

 

Cnsper, I can't tell on my phone-- is that an RGN? So you backed that truck all the way on and even got the drives up and over the trailer tridems? Very nice bit of driving.

@Hurst That is why a lot of trucks have 1 coat of thick black or dark color roof its hard to stay on knees on wet paint to get a 2ed coat of paint on a truck roof without a walk board around the side of truck.

 

I'd like to come over there one day and go make a few runs. I think it would be quite an experience
