    What for?

After giving a description of the truck to law enforcement, there isn't much sense in having the hazard in front of you rather than behind you.

So, you are basically saying he was right to use the left shoulder for passing? Smh

Hey, I'm not proud of it, but I didn't want to be underneath his impending accident. I'll admit, it was bad judgment. Watching him pass was a lot scarier. I would have been biting my nails if I could have pried my fingers off the wheel.

If there's a next time, I see what the general feeling is now. These aren't box trucks anymore, I'm In the big leagues (speaking relatively) and I have to be more professional.

And it was a divided highway. I'm not suicidal. I-5 south, just after the turnoff towards Yosemite (I think that's the 150 or 140)

    Not at all.

But one has to do what one has to do to avoid, and subsequently get away from, idiots like he mentioned.

If it's open and free of obstructions, I would do it too.

Just because he said he passed on the shoulder does not mean that the truck was entirely on the shoulder of the road. Heck, I have yet to see a left shoulder wide enough for this. I have passed with my drivers side of the truck on the left shoulder but this is mainly with or when passing a wide load. Or if the idiot crowds the zipper. Yep I am getting away from them.

All these holier than thou posts are funny. No it is not illegal to use the shoulder if it means avoiding an accident, that is what they are there for.. That and for use that haul wide loads.... lol

Holier. Nope none here. I have personally observed, 2 different vehicles try using shoulder, wipe out. In conclusion, please don't assume intent of content of post. Holier than thou truckers can be found at twisted trucker.

Lol,ok. No problem. But to say to someone, use some common sense, is to say that they don't have any. Or to say pay attention as if they was not is only implying that they wasnt, followed by a smart remark of, they don't put signs up for decoration.
    Happy Thanksgiving
