The Petro in Joplin, MO is one of my all-time favorites. That, and the former Petro in Kenly, NC. In fact, I recently noticed one thing all my favorite truck stops had in common: they all seem to be part of the small "Iowa 80" chain.

I always get a kick out of their white elephants. Who needs a knife with dragon wings? Who buys this stuff? Don't go truckin without a case of Vienna sausages!

The Sapp's in SLC is great. Restaurant is good, service is good, price is decent. Shop is good, and the coffee is always plentiful, fresh, and hot. I don't fuel there, but I always post up there if I'm in SLC. The Sapp's on 80 at the very east end of Wyoming has always been good to me as well. There I do fuel, coffee is always good ( and FREE ), and usually I get a decent pizza.

I haven't been to that Petro in some time. In the early 2000's it wasn't to bad. What improvements were made?

They just cleaned it up, and got A LOT better help. It's comfy now. Even the food in fuel island is good. The skillet is 100% better than it was.

Awesome! my wife and i use to enjoy the $9.99 steaks that the Petros use to have. The Petro in Claysville,PA could use some cleaning up itself.
