If you ever get to own your own truck, you will drive a lot slower.
-
This is obvious but you are comparing apples and oranges. As a company driver fuel efficiency is not my concern as i will make same money wheter i get 5 miles a gal or 8 miles a gal. What matters to me is time. And o/o at least have a choice ,those guys don't.On the other hand they never get pissed about some a hole blocking middle lane with his slow truck.Less stress longer life I heard.
-
That doesn't mean anyone should be so quick to assume that was the case here.Rock 'n Roll Relocater Thanks this.

Back then Freightliner got mad at Swift for spec'ing the trucks for that. They ordered them with 10 speed direct transmissions and 3.36 rear ends. Thats fine when you're running 55. But when the truck was put on the used market, it was a tough sell for anyone outside of California and Oregon, lol. At 65, that engine would be winding at near 1900 rpm!
Freightliner began putting in 13 speed transmissions with an .85 overdrive which made them a bit easier to sell because they could at least run 70.brsims Thanks this. -
Just started with Prime. teamed a load from Missouri to Texas. Man it was a slow go. 45 up hills on a 75 mph hwy where everyone even the tumble weeds passed me.
-
They shouldn't have any trouble climbing any hills geared like that.
-
I have not read or heard this before, that is crazy you would be fined for going too fast over your governed speed downhill.
-
Wow, 56 in a 65 gets a phone call. You must be on the phone non stop complaining to Safety Departments for all those drivers who cannot change lanes correctly and those that tailgate each other thinking they are slip streaming at Daytona and those truckers that love to ride on a cars rear end and try and bully them out of the way.
Good Job Driver ! -
They would have been a good truck if you ran the I5 corridor I suppose.
