Most owner ops can pick and choose. Considering he's been at trucking for 20 PLUS...I've known a few (without contract) who signed on with companies part time... to work 2 companies in a months time and make a pretty good living..But that's at the extreme end of it for tax issues ect.and DOT and government guidelines However i think u made a good choice. good luck to ya ..keep us posted
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I will always advise someone to run their own numbers IF you're organized, and have the start up capital. Florida as you know is a tough state to operate out of as far as freight/rates are concerned. Will you run all 48?
-
Yes we do know Florida is hard to come out of. As far as running the 48 states do you think it would be wise to do starting out or do you think regional would be better?
-
Running wherever freight is paying the best is the best "region" to run in.Aishia Thanks this.

What is he doing now?
I mean is he running for a company that books him his freight or working for an O/O where he has to finds his own lds?
Is he currently pulling a reefer?
If the later he can kinda talk with the brokers he's using now and tell them he is thinking about switching on his own and they might work with him.
If driving a company wagon, do they have O/O's and if so he might talk with them about signing on to them.
Just a thoughtG13Tomcat Thanks this. -
It is expensive to get ones own authority, and sometimes a pain in the saddle. It is easier to lease onto a company, but if you go this route. Do plenty of research of the company, and never be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Talk to other O/O leased to that company. Hope this helps even a little.Aishia Thanks this.
