I can see that being true for individual incomes, but for entire households? 52 grand is broke for a family of four.
-
That's household... So family too. Reality is some places cost a lot more to live in than others.
$350k will buy a real nice house in MS, maybe a Condo in SF. -
Chicago suburbs, and I'm doing just fine. But I did buy my house when property value and interest rates were very low
-
Bought my 1500 sq ft 3 bed/2 bath home with an attached 27x34 heated garage for all of $60K. Would've cost 4x as much in the 'burbs around Chicago. Have a friend in Joliet that pays more in property taxes per month than I do per year...for a much smaller piece of land.

Don't complain that the area you live in is too expensive. Either suck it up and deal with it or leave.
And I am not stupid or ignorant or being ripped off. My loads are not paying my company anything. I work for a small chain of stores delivoring from our warehouse to our stores. It costs them money to send us out. And I know how much money each store and the company as a whole make, or lose each year. I also know that other than store managers and the owner, drivers are the highest paid people in the company. -
That is an exageration. I have 1500 sq ft 4 bedroom 2 bath with a 1 car attached garage. I paid $130,000. Property tax is high, about $4900 a year. My monthly payment for mortgage, tax, and insurance is $1000. That is not bad for the Northwest suburbs of chicago.
By the way, where do you live? -
Wanna pay $1100 a month for rent, no utilities included. On a small 1 br no parking? You act like people can just up and move from their families on a whim. What a pompous ###.

Costs the same or more in the city of Chicago, that's why I live in the suburbs. What's so hard about moving 45 minutes away. There has to be cheaper housing in the metro areaBoston_Tankers_Girl Thanks this.

Not really until you get 60 miles outside of the city. Even southern NH which was a Republican stronghold got destroyed by Boston liberals and the costs there went up. I'm planning on PA or further south in the next few years. Paying cash for a house, and then I'll go work local. Done playing liberal tax the workers, pay the freeloaders/illegals/refugees way.Boston_Tankers_Girl and chris887 Thank this.
