    Violations actually do come off if the records purged for Californians it's after 3 years of the violation date.

    Those records are the same ones used during court that's how I found out about a judge told me to have it purged so it would clear my record

    Yes, having a record purged is always an exception. In my reply I was talking about generic violations that just stay on the record and get old.

    California dmv told me that records get purged/age off 36 months past the violation date for non CDL holders, but once that license is converted to a CDL, it goes to 36 months post conviction....

    I have a failure to stop violation that is just past 3 years post violation now, this was a photo ticket that, due to a number of moves I made between 2011 and 2014, I didn't even learn about until May of last year when I did a check of my own records, as a result, it went into a failure to appear/pay and I was not convicted until September 2014. Since I now hold a CDL, I have to wait until 2017 for it to purge??? WTH?

    Aside from that, my record includes a cell phone ticket in 2013 (that I never should have gotten; I was holding the phone looking at a map and had not made or received any calls or text messages that entire day, but lost in court) with a conviction date of March 2014. I also got an unregistered vehicle ticket in 2014.

    None of these tickets resulted in points on my record...

    Someone lied cause unless you call they never purge. before I did mine I had things on there from 2002 it's not automatic that's why they have a phone number and office just for that in SAC

    Who do you think told me that, since I now have a CDL, I now have to wait until 2017 to request that the tickets be purged?

    Thats right, sometimes they don't get around to removing violations after 3 years, you have to call them (dmv). If you are in california the number is 916-657-6525.

    On a side note, Dui's stay on you're record forever. It will be on a criminal background check because dui's are at least a misdemeanor, and at worst a felony. At least thats how it works in california. So when applying for a driving job you will have to disclose this even if it happened 30 years ago.

    I got a DUI back in 82 and it hasn't been on my record for 20 years....
