100% of the construction sites I've been too had their own unloading equipment or they ordered a crane. Usually whoever the ending customer is takes care of the unloading part

Really? Block, brick, lumber, bagged material, just to name a few off the top of my head come on moffit type trucks. I see them everyday. Plus drywall, some skidded material, shingles, ect. come on a boom truck so the don't need a crane onsite.

    Dominick253 and MJ1657 Thank this.

I have delivered all of that material listed and a lot more to job sites all over the country.
Every site has had its own equipment to unload. be it some form of fork lift, loader, boom or crane.

The one factor that could be in play is less than truck load. 1 or 2 lifts of something. that could be a difference.
most often when I do see a piggy back, it is a local supply company doing a delivery of a mixed odds and ends.

I understand that, but I see dozens of them everyday so they must have a use.

I'm speaking of when John Doe steel company orders 6 trucks of steel and Jane Doe roofing company orders 6 trucks of roofing material they'll have their unloading plan situated whether they rent a forklift or by crane. I also rarely see moffits at truck stops so I doubt they run cross country

I understand that, I never said they run cross country as a matter of fact I thought that was a wierd request when the thread started. But they are widely used.
