just my two cents;
The trucking industry should not use urine testing to begin with. It's too easy to fake or skew the results (I heard of a woman who got a friend to pee for her, put it in a bottle up her !!!! so it would stay body temperature, used that to pass the test- she wasn't a trucker, thankfully)
Also, there's the issue with "shy bladder" as we've been discussing here. Innocent people are being screened out.
Other forms of testing are available (hair testing for instance) but are not popular because they are more expensive. Money counts for more than safety, unfortunately.
Drug test gone bad...Very bad

I think they should have let you sit it out the rest of the day and pee when you darn well felt like peeing. If it is shy bladder or whatever, there should be something you can do differently.
If there are other circumstances that come up with "making an exception" be it medicated ADD, ADHD, etc, well maybe they could have given you a little something to calm your nerves. O.K. I'm digging deep now, there's gotta be something. Help me out people!
BTW, If you were on SSD, couldn't you get state help for schooling, then yes, forget about this instance and go to school w/o one of those companies that have schooling. -
At least you.ve got SDI. Have you ever heard of FLOWMAX? Look it up, it lets you pee like a racehore or get a DIURETIC from your Dr.
-
Is there a blood test they could do? At least they couldn't say you refused if you took one of those.
-
That's because the collection was not done corectly. Shy bladder is addressed in the FMCSR §40.193 and §40.195. If you work with them, then the rules help you. If you just walk out you're screwed. I suggest every driver should carrier a copy of the little green pocketbook of the FMCSR and read them to protect yourself. You can pick one up at just about any truck stop. BTW, did anyone look and see when the OP had their problem?Muleskinner, MAJIK Lady, Joetro and 2 others Thank this.

Crap! I just looked at the date of when Oxydizer posted this. So, this will not pertain any longer, but will leave it for future shy bladder sufferers!
What Gashauler said about working with them on it is correct. IF they told you what to do next. It doesn't sound like they did.
I read from the FMCSR §40.193 and the company is to direct you to:
obtain, within five days, an evaluation from a licensed physician, acceptable to the MRO, who has expertise in the medical issues raised by the employee's failure to provide a sufficient specimen.
(sorry couldn't help myself, I couldn't wait for Oxydizer to post that he/she found this and stated he/she is doing just that.) Time may be of the essence!
After finding out it was from Dec 07 Argh! -posthumously yelled.
(death of the thread, not the person) -
Some drugs may not show up in a blood test. That is why they require urine.
-
A blood test is going to require some one medically qualified to stick people with a needle and draw blood. And you have to pay those some ones more money. A blood test is good for telling if a person is currently under the influence of a drug, pee tests are better at finding recent use.
-
Sorry to say but thats gonna be on your dac report as a failure to test, and no one will tough you, even if you go through a tech school and try to get on with another company. Your trucking career is shot for atleast 5 years sorry to say.

lol...I had to laugh at that.
