Never driven automatic International but the rental day cab Pro Star I drove left me underwhelmed on the MaxxForce engine.
I'm biased towards the Volvo I shift anyways lol. -
Manual. Gotta have a manual. Of the two trucks, neither of which do I like, Volvo.

Just can't see why ppl like them automatic transmission they don't pull ####

I have an automatic and when turned up to 68/69 mph the MACK Mdrive pulled 77,000 lbs at 60 mph. Then my company turned it down to 65 and idk wtf happened but it ain't doing that anymore

I don't think there is a true automatic in trucks yet. They are still the same manual transmissions we have been rowing for years. They are shifted and clutched by computers and air but it is still a manual with real gears. My just rolled over 10,000mi 455hp 1250ftlb dt12 pulls the same as my retired 455 10 speed. Better really and this engine isn't started breaking in yet.

Volvo 780 d13 13 speed > prostar cummins/13sp
Anything > maxxforce
We have a bunch of ishifts and standards the ishifts get better fuel mileage but drivers recommend standard. -
