I would like just to let you know about those pre-hire letters. They really don't mean all that much. It's by far no guarantee. All they are saying is they will take a look at you when you finish school. Never trust a company like that and never trust a recruiter.
MattyB6T, americanmadetrucker, Tonythetruckerdude and 1 other person Thank this. -
Didn't have time to read everyone's response but for what it's worth being in the forces gives you a good start as long as you didn't come out for bad reasons
Everything really comes down to you and your work ethic. I've found most dispatch have their favorite and if you just do what's needed and asked of you without causing a fuss every time you can do well pretty much anywhere if you want.
Pick your top few needs and find what matches those the best and at worst you should be able to get your first year done without giving up on driving.
Good luck! -
If pay isn't really an issue and hometime is most important then why would you be so concerned that roehl would cut your miles? If pay isn't that important then that shouldn't be an issue it would seem...

Ya I agree. U won't be very happy with the others u listed

If they have me parked at the house your right it wouldn't be that big of a deal. My fear is I am parked at a truck stop in Kansas for 3 days waiting on a load. Even if I was parked for a few days at a decent location where I could rent a car and site see I would be fine with that too.

Nate, for what it is worth. Roehl contacted me. I asked the question regarding the commitment required. The recruiter confirmed to me that you must commit to 75,000 miles. If you terminate prior to that, you owe them $3,130. Although I did not ask to see the specific agreement at this stage because they aren't likely on my short list, I did ask about the scenario where they terminate you. I was told it is a "gray" area. There are some scenarios where you would not owe them, but others where they would push for it. In any case, personally there is no way I would proceed with them unless I could actually review the documentation prior to signing up, and I would have to go into it with eyes wide open. I agree with you that this seems odd when you already have your CDL. Nevertheless, it is what it is. I am just sharing what they told me. Otherwise, it seemed like a decent company. The recruiter didn't seem to dodge any of my questions.

I talked to Millis today as well.
They informed me that I would be required to attend their driving school and the cost is $1000 because I am a veteran otherwise it is $2500.
