So many questions, so little battery life. While I realize that many lessons are best learned thru experience, a few do stand out. Is .40 cpm good for a rookie OTR driver? Is the per diem I'm being told I have to take all it's cracked up to be?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks guys, now for the next question.....What are the signs to look for telling me it's time to find a new company? I understand I need to cut my teeth somewhere and plan to stay with my choose company for at least a year if not two years.

What state are you from? Some of the signs would be not enough miles, having you constantly running in areas you don't like... Plenty of information on this site to get you the answers you need. I think you hit the nail on the head though, stick out that first year with the company you choose and pretty much sky is the limit... Get all your endorsements out of the way when you get your license.

I live in Tennessee north of Nashville, talked to a couple of drivers from the company in my area, they are averaging between 2500 and 3100 miles a week depending on how hard they want to run.

You should be fine in that area, plenty of companies to choose from... Even if you decide to stay local...

I'm going OTR for the first couple of years. I want to stretch my legs and make a decent living doing it. Home time isn't a big concern as long as I make it back for a couple of days a month. I start schneider orientation next week. Like all companies I have researched they have their pros and cons, but they were the only company to step up the pay level and they are very very veteran friendly.
