I have an employer who tells me that it is in NO WAY the companies obligation to get the driver home for his home time. He says it is only the companies obligation to get the driver to the yard, which happens to B near Chicago. I live in Las Vegas. & that its the drivers responsibility to get home & back. I disagree. I believe its the companies obligation to get the driver home. So im asking everyone on here for their opinion on the subject...

If they don't fell obligated to get their drivers home, their drivers shouldn't feel obligated to stay with them. Just sayin.

I third the motion i is time for you to seek other employment. There is no way I trust this person to care anything about you if they feel that way about home time.

What does their employee handbook say about hometime, or does it?
    Do you haul cross country?
Do you take loads within 50 miles or so of your home as a regular duty of your job?
Do they state the truck has to be at the home terminal?
Would you have a secure area to park the tractor and trailer if the trailer can't be dropped anywhere?

My husband would not be close to home if he had to drop the truck at the yard. Sometimes he has to drop the trailer, which could be 60 miles or more away from us and sometimes he ends up bringing it home. We have a place for him to park in town, or if only the tractor and it is dry out the tractor comes here.

    201 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Something is weird here. Why would they hire you knowing you were in Las Vegas if they knew they wouldn't be able to get you home? That makes no sense. Now if you moved or something. .......

    Red flag waving.

Would you ever have that conversation with an employer? Not, "have you ever", would you ever? Everyone's telling him to quit. The employer wants him gone too! As soon as that was said, the average driver would have walked. Opie wants a discussion. Wherein lies the problem?
