Guy in this post claims he's only making $450 a week at Western. Ya might want to try Swift if your stuck on those two.

Does Western let you idle the truck for two days if you are waiting for a load? Do they have APUs?

That's pretty clever of them to tie a driver up to work for them for over three years.

My best siggestion would be schneider to get your feet wet but stay with them for at least 1-2 years and write your ticket to the next job..if you want to stay in northeast schneider and JB hunt have some excellent local home every day jobs esapecially in ny nj and pa and the money and benefits will be solid as well. You will make 60-75k a year on jb dedicated or intermodelaccounts in northeast and home daily with 2 days off and thats fact. So look at your first year or two as stepping stone to get to your ultimate goal and it will pay off. I reccommend you dont job hop either cuz that could hinder you from getting that job you want.. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Yes but at least they prorate their training. Some companies try to charge you 100% if you leave before the contract is up. One driver said it is $150 a month until the amount is paid if you leave Swift early. The way it's explained to me it's more like $300/month.

I'm a newbie but how will that tie you in for 3 years? Just save up $4,500 while working and buy yourself out of the contract. If it takes you 3 years to save up $4,500 you have bigger problems.

Some people think if you leave early it goes against your manhood. lol. I don't blame companies for recovering their training cost.

They will let you idle but it's governed. No APUs unfortunately. Would rather have had those instead of a tv..

I don't understand what you mean when you say the idle is governed?
