I did notice on a some tanker company websites that they would "consider" inexperienced drivers if they attended an approved school. Those particular companies either listed the schools or they posted a link to check on a particular school.

I have contacted well over a dozen companies and only 2 asked about what school I attended.

CDL school from my experience teaches nothing regarding truck driving. They taught us how to pass a CDL test. Based on that I can see why some companies don't care so much about the school since they will train you anyways.

    farmboy73 Thanks this.

If I had access to a truck, I think I would have been tempted to skipped school altogether for exactly that reason.

Wisconsin has no requirement for a CDL. Pass the test and your good to go.

I am glad I went to school though. Learning to drive a semi in southern California traffic I know will benefit me at some point.

I went to a 5 month school and still had to go out 6 weeks with a company trainer. They get federal money to train rookies, so I can see why some wouldn't care about which school you went to. They are going to pair you with a trainer for the money regardless.

School doesn't teach you how to do the work that's why you went with a trainer. School only teaches you to get your CDL

When were you out driving with a company driver? Lately people were saying it's 10 days with a driver
