I could see it as an oversized load hauler where you expect to burn gobs of fuel anyways.rank Thanks this.

My 3408 grosses out close to 180,000 lb and there's hardly any difference between it and a late engine, the more you put on the less the difference.mountaingote and rank Thank this.

I once got an unexpected surprise. She wants a Barbie dream house for Christmas.

And I'm betting she gets it too.
To the topic, the problem with putting the older trucks back into otr service is cost of operation. The old cummins just can't get the fuel mileage it takes to be competitive in todays market. And they ALWAYS need something mechanical to stay rolling.miss elvee and mountaingote Thank this. -
I drove a '69 Pete that had air...not factory though. The first Transtar that I remember having factory air, I think was in 72-73. I had a new '76 that had factory air. Worked very well. I put 460,000 miles on it, and don't remember it not working.

Drove an old ford l9000 winch truck. It had factory ac and to release the brakes it was a toggle switch not the the yellow push button. It had a cummins and no seatbelts. Never could make a call and be going down the road. I believe the truck is older than me but man did that thing pull some frac tanks out of some crazy places.
miss elvee Thanks this. -
