Texas sucks. Lots of freight, but it's all cheap. If I was you, I'd seriously consider moving.

Well, it's very simple...
Fund a carrier that based in Houston or Dallas and they'll have permanent customers in those cities.
Every time I ended up in Texas, even if I wouldn't be able to find straight load to Missouri, I'll break my trip apart in order to get to Missouri, and it's most of the time more profitable than a single trip...rachi Thanks this. -
I just took a cheap load out of Houston to get me enroute to get home. Last time I was in the area I sat for 2 days trying to wait for a decent paying load to pop up. Ended up taking a cheap load over to La where I had a better paying load booked.
Texas has always been hit or miss for me. Last few months its been pretty ridiculous. Worse than Fla in my opinion.
I agree with others. Unless you hook up with someone who has direct freight in the area, its unlikely anyone else can do any better.

Do you have hazmat? I know a company there out of Deer Park, and Pasadena (but they can try to be cheap, I only use the Pasadena for partial to add to my Deep Park load)
They have plenty of work, and last few times I been there I pulled out with 2.10/mile light load going to ohio areas, but I also added the partial from Pasadena to make it over 3 a mileBigRedNY Thanks this. -
Are you a company driver,or Owner/Operator?..if O/O, listen to the advice of the ones who posted earlier, sounds like they have the "LowDown" on freight rates and amount of the movement of it. If you're a Company driver, they shouldn't have a problem getting you out of Houston or anywhere in Tx. Maybe things ARE THAT BAD...Hey, good luck to you,God Bless and Merry Christmas

I would think, unless things are really That Bad!.. Good Luck to you, God Bless and Merry Christmas
