Sound like feedback turn off talk back if you have it. Run a good noise canceling mic keep the mic gain turned down. Don't hold the mic close to the radio.

I've never seen that happen on a stock radio unless the microphone was damaged or had loose wires inside the plug. It only seems to happen on radios that have been tampered with by people who aren't qualified to change a lightbulb. Is the radio stock unmodified? Are you the original owner of this radio? Has anyone been inside this radio? Again this is not something that normally happens on a properly aligned radio. Once the automatic modulation control circuit has been hacked up or disabled this is when you start to have problems like this.

It would be worth trying a different microphone to see if the problem replicates itself with a different microphone

Shorted RX/TX wire in the mic pin will do exactly that. Swap mics and give it a try, it'll probabably fix it.

Everybody beat me to it but i was gonna say either mic issue or speaker feedback..
As for mic gain, once.repaired you should ne able to run mic gain wide open..Most likely about 3/4 will sound best..Again that depends on whats been done..
