The illegal issue is not running 12 to 15 hours. Being safe is illegal with elogs. I cant run 8 sleep 6 run 4 del, nap for 3 run for 4, sleep for 8 run for 8 pick up, excc...excc. no i HAVE TO RUN ALL 11, sleep for 6 del, wait a few more then RUN ALL 11 Just to try to make it. (Note i dont run otr, but i used to. I know what they are trying to do ) elogs force a driver to use the 11 if hes tierd or not. That is NOT safe.

It's shocking to me that people really believe this is all for "safety". I only drive about 5 days per month anyway, so paper it will be for me. Hopefully I can figure out when I'm sleepy on my own, because the paper won't tell me like the elogs do.

sounds like someone is jealous that they are running e logs in a governed truck. Why don't you buy your own outfit and see what it's like on the other side of the fence. The only people that I know of that only "care about a paycheck" are the steering wheel holders that work for large companies, because that's all they have coming is a paycheck.

ELDs ate pointless. I have one and can log onto it and make everything look legal just as i did with paperlogs. If "people" want safety stop investing in dumb laws and purchase our own roads for truckers. No 4 wheelers. Elds is just one more way to destroy trucking like it used to be. Who remembers the days when truckers bought each other coffees and lunch for no other reason then being a fellow brothern.

You must have an app and not an eld, which one do you have?

Ok so Hillclimber tell me this since you seem to know everything. How come it's always the big companies with E logs that blow my doors off in construction zones or small towns? Trying to get every single minute out of their little black box.

If you follow the HOS rules it doesn't matter which mode of logging you use....if you run legal. Paper logs require less planning because you can always "fudge" them if you run into an issue.

Constructions zones, school zones, in town, or anywhere else the speed limit drops below the 64.whatever they are governed at. If they aren't speeding it's because somebody is in front of them holding them up...in which case they are 2' off the back bumper of that vehicle. What really ticks me off is when I'm on a 2-lane with a 65 or 70 mph speed limit and the governed truck has been holding me up for miles. Maybe I had a chance to pass, maybe I didn't. Get to town and the road opens up to multiple lanes and the speed limit drops. Rather than doing the courteous and professional thing by allowing the faster truck to pass or stay in front of them, they run balls to the wall through town so when the speed limit goes up again they'll be in the way.

Used to be able to go onto the FMCSA's safer web and look at violations received by carriers. Never ceased to amaze me the number of speeding tickets in the 10-15 and 15+ mph categories that carriers received by drivers in their governed trucks with elogs...
