And if you're pulling a trailer don't park in the single pull through spaces . Each one of those spaces can hold two bobtails.

My truck is 282" wheelbase and I pull a 52' spread axle with the rear axle all the way back. Picture me backed in next to your average 230" wheelbase fleet truck with their trailer tandems slid ahead and you'll visualize the giant target the front of my truck is if I happen to be in the unlucky position of sleeping at a Truckstop. And that's why I nose in when I can. That's also why I'll take two pull thru spots. Sorry.

When I was driving a refer and I had to park next to a guy because it was bussy I would nose in, but I know how to back out. Don't nose in if you don't know what your doing, I'd rather here a refer then get my fender torn off.

I have to meet the cattle buyer in the morning so I was left with no choice other than to park at the Pilot in Simpsonville KY. I have a bobtail on my right that is hopefully there for the night and I backed in extra good to try and keep my hood since there wasn't a spot I could nose in.

The only times I've had to do nose in parking is at Idle Air locations (Frystown,PA and Newnan,GA come to mind). Any other time I back in and pull the truck as far back as possible so the front end doesn't stick out.Ironically listening to someone else's reefer or APU running helps me fall asleep- either that or I'm just too exhausted to notice.

I saw a video from a 30 year trucker that owns his truck. Said he parks nose in to keep his truck from getting damaged from someone backing into it. Recommends it actually as says its better to have a trailer damaged a little as they are much cheaper to repair, and with a smashed grill and radiator you aint going anywhere.peterd Thanks this.
