ITS GETTING EVEN HARDER TO FIGURE OUT A GOOD COMPANY TO GO WITH WHEN YOUR FIRST STARTING OUT IN TRUCKING,IM IN SCHOOL NOW AND IV BEEN COMING TO THIS SITE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, BUT I JUST STARTED GETTING INVOLVED WITH WHAT IS SAID. AFTER READING UP ON THIS SITE ABOUT MANY OF THE COMPANIES THAT HIRE NEWBIES, I NARROWED IT DOWN TO MAVERICK(GLASS DIV, ITS A JOKE ITS A NIGHTMARE, THEY WERE BEGGING ME TO COME,I THINK BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I WAS A NEWBIE WITH NO CLUE AND WAS READY TO BE FIST ****), TMC O MAN THEY HAE GREAT EQUIPMENT THOSE PETERBUILTS ARE GREAT TRUCKS AND I THOUGHT IF I HAVE TO SIT AROUND AND LIKE TO BE SITTING IN THAT, GO TO THE TMC THREAD AND READ MY POST ABOUT HOW THEY TREATED ME IN 1 PHONE CALL, IM GLAD THEY DID CANT IMAGINE BEING STUCK 1000 MILES FROM HOME BEING TREATED LIKE A DIRTY RAG, SO I CALLED ROEHL. NOW I JUST PUT IN MY APP. AND IM TRYING TO LINE UP A JOB WHEN I GET DONE WITH SCHOOL IN 3 WEEKS AND THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY, VERY NICE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THIS IS THE COMPANY I THINK ID LIKE TO WORK FOR, POWER INVERTERS, FRIDGES, MICROWAVES, TVS, THESE THINGS SRE A MUST WHEN BE STUCK IN A TRUCK ALL DAY AND NIGHT, ANYTHING LESS AND YOUR BEING TREATED LIKE A CAGED ANIMAL, SOME PEOPLE LIKE BEING TREATED LIKE CRAP HANGING OUT AT TRUCK STOPS AND DIRTY DINERSAND JUMPING WHEN THEY RE TOLD TO JUMP. OK ENOUGH OF THAT I HOPE THAT WAS ENOUGH TO GET YOU GUYS GOING, NOW GIVE ME SOME REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES WITH ROEHL, THEY RE TELLING ME NATIONAL DIV OUT 10-17, NOT 10-13 LIKE SOME FABRICATE HERE, THEN ILL BE HOME FOR 3 DAYS.

Not sure who told you we have those, because we don't unless you buy them. I just got an APU and it came with an inverter, but only a handful of trucks have APUs right now. If you want an inverter, you can buy one and pay Roehl to install it. Fridges, microwaves, and TVs do not come in our trucks. They do come with an annoying QualComm.

Fabricate? Dude, you really should stop with the accusations. Now to answer your question, 10 - 13 days out is the norm for me. Yes, I have stayed out longer, but I'm usually in by day 13. I'll be out for month next go around because I want a 5 days off. It's all about how you want to run. Go out for a week and be at home 2 days if you want. Stay out for a month and a half and get a week off. My DSRs have generally honored my home time requests, but I've flexed here and there too. I've also told them when enough is enough and I was taking my days; all the ones I have earned. Home time is game, you just have learn how to play it. Wheel and deal.

First off, you said NOTHING in your post about they "let" you. You went right into naming items off after saying Roehl is who you'd like to run for. So perhaps try being a little bit clearer about what you are trying to say.

Second, luck has nothing to do with it. Most guys that run National are out here about 11 days. I have only been out over 13 when I asked for it. If you've really read previous posts, you'd have seen several posts talking about a 11/3 schedule.

Lastly, you really should lose that attitude. You are not God's little gift to the trucking industry. You haven't even made it out of school yet. If you want information, maybe you should try being a little more polite and taking whats offered. You know NOTHING about this industry or Roehl, so stop trying to sound like you do.

Anyone who has the attitude that they are "stuck" in their truck will not last long in the industry. As for doing what one is told, as a company driver you are an employee working for an employer. The employer tells you what to do and you are expected to do it. No different the Ford, GM, McDonalds or anywhere else. This is the key to why so many have a problem in this industry; they cannot take commands from someone else. The only way to solve that is to become an independent owner operator, but even then the shipper is going to tell you when they want the load there and you are expected to have it there by that time.

Well my thoughts are it is what you make of it..I have worked for some of those companies no one wanted to work for and never had a problem, But I will not work for nothing. I have a good safety record and 5 million miles on our hys. I will leave it at that.
