most of the people running ports are retired otr drivers that just for the fact that they go home daily and for some reason is some kind of honor badge to be able to work out of the ports and not losing their minds!
-
I haven't heard of anyone not waiting at ports. Its their ball game there

The west coast strike was just pulled off after a whole bunch of weeks. Not sure if it really gained those off that much money in the long run, but it did setback a whole lot of unloading going on. I guess there were businesses that ended up having to lay off workers or close because of it. Companies that had orders for spring clothing, etc, had to either get them from someone else or just skip what was supposed to come in. The ships at sea are going to be there for sometime they say waiting to be unloaded. Those who could, sent ships to the ports in WA to be unloaded, but this added to the cost, but at least they didn't loose money over the deal.
There was also a mention of ports being made in Mexico for unloading ships. Now that Nafta has a clean run, there will be more coming through once these ports are open.
We all know Unions can be good, or bad and ugly. They protect the worker or make an evil monster who uses other people. -

Why do we care about sitting at any rate per hour?
Because some of us have a thing called self respect.
We know we have a job to do, and we want to do it.
Not sit for hours on end while some ignorant jack wagon jerks his gherkin just to aggravate us, just because he can.4mer trucker and MidwestResident Thank this.
