That sounds like the lady who called me today and I told her I couldn't accept her rate.
was a light flatbed load. Lots of these stupid brokers think a tarp is something that magically hops up on the load and secures itself. They also think they are free to truckers when they want that load of edge first razor blades tarped.

I was blown away when I first saw the rate cons -- but RC is not making it up. When a JIT truck falls through and an assembly line is going to be shut down costing the manufacturer hundreds of thousands -- they'll pay to have a reliable expedited truck get it back online asap...

IMO, where RC shines is in being able to hear no 1,000 times and still throw out crazy quotes when caller 1,001 rings...

A navy load requires double rates they are the worst to deal with. I automatically add more money to a military load cause of all the extra bother they are.

The sad part is, you probably left a grand (or more)on the table. Anytime a broker says this is all I got in it, he is lying. And even if was telling the truth, who cares, it's time for him to dip into the profits he has been getting off trucks all year. For an important customer, they will spend an entire week of profit to get the load moved and keep the customer.

    Just In Time

Think about the automotive industry. The have a very limited warehouse at the plant. They treat trucks as there warehouse.

When I was in college I intend at Honda in Ohio, we had enough product on hand to run for exactly one hour. If a truck was more than 15 minutes late, the car line got shut down. A late truck, such as two hours lost from blowing a tire on the way to deliver, could literally cost Honda a hundred thousand dollars. A hundred freaking grand overt a blown tire. So when they need a load of brake shoes or mufflers to keep the plant working, they will pay big bucks.

Edit to add: this time of year you can score big bucks on jit loads cause Amazon needs that load to be on the airplane that's leaving at 11pm with or without the freight.

Yeah you're right Jeff. I missed 2 dozen calls before I woke up around 10am. There was a dozen more I didn't answer then I started accepting calls and giving options. They all said: No, no, no, crazy, F you, click, click, over and over again then some of them called back. This is really the story of my day almost every day looking to book and sonetimes there is a big zero at day's end.

I mean I told one guy my call volume was really elevated today when he asked why so much. I haven't seen that in a few weeks so I know something is up. That's why when somebody posted in here that they couldn't score $2.60 a mile from AL to MI that I said be glad you didn't cause it's kinda low. But a buddy of mine in the same area giving out quotes like mine never scored today so maybe I just got lucky? I'll take it, it happens. Just don't come on here when we are talking about my turf telling me I am FOS. I know #### well what I can and can't do around here. Today was one of those rare days when it was a trucks market, or perhaps I just got lucky.

This load is kind of screwy I did make them pay half on pickup and the other half on delivery via EFS because I had never heard of their company before and he was asking me about my MC# like a rookie. That actually created some extra headache on my end but I felt it had to be done that way.

I run under their authority and book my own loads. This discussion is not about them. It's about rates. Skateboard saw EXACTLY what I booked along with some other stuff. Man if I tell you I can book a load like that now and then you can take it to the bank. I didn't write a check a year ago for a brand new $27,000 trailer on fictional internet stories. You want to see a pic of the title it's here in the cab with me? I'm not playing driver I know WTF I'm doing.
