We have replaced the XY Shifter as well as the 3 Speed sensors & are still having issues with the truck locking in 10th gear & won't downshift - would appreciate any advice on what to look for next.
The faults that were coding were for:
Rail Select Motor and Gear Select Motor
Hence why we replaced the sensors & XY Shifter - replaced, codes went to inactive, after test drive, the same issue & the same codes showed up active again

Replace with a manual and the problem is solved, cant lock when you can simply pull it out of gear.

I know they have a lot of issues with sensors and shifter wiring. so i would replace the sensor harness if not already done so. Also there is chance of the ecm acting up and new parts are not what they used to be any chance of swaping out transmission ecm and maybe another xy.

One is a temp sensor the other is reverse switch I would highly suggest wires

The 06 Century I drove for PAM was fraught with autoshift problems. Mostly it wouldn't recognize the trans was present and in neutral and the truck wouldn't start.
The 08 Pro Star was a MUCH better truck in regards to Autoshift!bransonrocks Thanks this. -
UPDATE!!!!
We just changed the Transmission Controller & THAT FIXED the problem!!!!

I am from south Africa, we have a 2003 freightliner Argosy, gen 2, Eaton fuller autoshift.
Truck had been acting up for the past 2 months.
Truck didnt have power and after checking sensors and wiring etc etc the auto elec found tcm needed to be changed. Truck went fine for a week and then truck was getting stuck in gear, then after tapping xy and disconnecting from tcm it reset and would drive fine until a few more kms and then when driver reverts to tapping xy etc this time out doesn't get N. Got an auto electrician out, checked all wiring etc, and changed the xy motors. Truck drove fine for a week and then acted up again by getting stuck in gear...mostly stuck 10 and not going into 11. Removed plugs as before and replaced in order to get moving. Brought to auto elect shop and they said range and splitter valve needs servicing...they referred us to a gearbox and propshaft shop that they use as the back section of gearbox needs to be removed in order to get to splitter. Ended up doing splitter sleeve, splitter fork,servicing range valve and found auxiliary gear badly pitted so changed.
Drove about 200kms and now gear issue again. Got stuck in 13 and then 10 as driver tried downchanging to climb a hill, dash gave flashing F so he pulled over. Switched off and ignition on again,no F but as soon as he tried moving in 1st the flashing F returned. Tapped xy, removed plugs and then tried after awhile, drove a few kms and then truck was skipping gears from 12 to 14,driver pulled off and when he stopped the vehicle dash reflected 14 gear but vehicle was in nuetral...im now dumbfounded! No one seems to find the problem with the vehicle which is becoming financially frustrating and stressful.
Any assistance or clues would be highly appreciated. -
