Is it me or wouldn't it seem like the price of everything would be coming down?
Everything was going up because of $4 a gallon diesel, but now it's close to $2 a gallon.
And I would also add that freight prices have also come way down.
Why is the price of everything in the stores not coming down? Just trying to make a point.
The cost of everything isn't coming down.

The sky is falling.
It amazes me how negative some members here are. It's kind of funny when you sit back and look at it. Those that complain about every company out there are those that complain about everything and anything. Hmmmmm -
The stuff in the stores right now were produced in factories early to mid 2015, from raw materials produced 1-4 months before that, from purchase orders placed about a year ago. The Spring 2016 stuff is being received at distribution centers now from orders placed almost a year ago.
Your first shot to see significant price reductions on the retail shelves will be BTS (Back To School) 2016... maybe as late as Spring 2017.
I know where of I speak. I worked the supply side selling to retailers and brand name companies from overseas production for a few decades. The lead times can be quite long. I'm sure Christmas 2016 is DONE and Spring 2017 decisions are getting finalized now. BTS '17 is underway and colors for Fall '17 are getting selected.gentleroger, rabbiporkchop, magoo68 and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree. The second oil prices or commodity prices go up they raise prices on gas, diesel, building materials, etc. but when those oil and commodity prices come down they are not so quick to lower prices.
I remember back in 2008 or so oil like rotella was less than $10 a gallon. Crude oil prices shot up and rotella went up as well. We are now back at 2008 crude prices but rotella is still $12-14. Doesn't make sense to me.FreightlinerGuy Thanks this. -
I buy groceries featured in the weekly ad, and shop multiple grocery stores that I have to drive past anyway. I buy clothing at the end of season and shop at discount stores. Stuff tends to go on sale in a predictable schedule. The cost of fresh produce and meat is unavoidable, and my diet definitely could be better. We do the best that we can.

Minimum wage was $5 the $7 when it was $4.
Now its $9 in most places at $2 gas.
Your money isn't worth as much and it costs more to produce goods & services. Blame Washington (the state). I hate that they were able to get away with inflating our currency.
On a positive:
My state governor slashed the minimum wage from 10.50 down to the federal rate minimum wage. Note that the private sector never increased to 10.50.
Good guy seems to be for the working man. Also repealed criminals right to vote.
I'm hoping one of these presidential candidates stands up and protects the dollar. Its a federal note if you wanna pay more then you can pay the difference in your state government bucks. You can have a state right to do that. XD
I would crap my pants go find that person and give them a hug. -
Blame Washington state? Rather than globalization that favors slave labor over U.S. labor? Or a whole host of other factors that cater to Wall Street over the working/middle class?
The current (federal) minimum wage buys something like 60% of what it would've if it had been indexed for inflation, so lowering state minimum wages to that makes low-wage workers even poorer and thus more dependent on government assistance. So I'm baffled as to how that helps anything.
Also, why should someone's right to vote be denied if they did their sentence and are off probation or parole? Should a man who turned his life around continue to pay the price of not being able to vote for the rest of his life? A lot of states have that lifetime ban on voting for ex-felons, an I just don't get it.6wheeler, rabbiporkchop and finbyrd Thank this. -
a $2 hamburger that'll self for $6 is still a $2 hamburger
