Probably they are. I mean there are a few negative things going on from my point of view. Here's what comes to my mind.
1. I know of no company truck that has APU's for driver comfort. Idle to stay cool and you'll hear about getting your idle percentage down.
2. Lots of short haul trips, even in flatbed.
3. No pets in company trucks (animal cruelty in a parked, hot truck).
4. Driver facing cameras are said to be coming. I saw the video on them at the terminal kiosks, but never had one myself.
5.Apathy that prevails among the people behind the glass, or in some cases they just do not know how to do something you need done.
6.Some of the terminals have really run down bathrooms and showers. None have free laundry. A few have free coffee, but most don't. Often times the parking situation at the terminals, after sun down, is as bad as the truck stop.
I know I've just described every mega carrier, according to a lot of the posts I've read.
Hired 4 times and quit 4 times...they won't talk to me now!

I am a US citizen, I just live overseas, that's all. -
Even with an economy that sucks, not too many people are willing to be an OTR driver. That's why so many immigrants are doing the job. -
I don't have a car, or I would do that.

"So, I was banging this chick for 3 or 4 months then dumped her. I was gone for 5 months then came back and banged her for another 3 or 4 months then dumped her again. After 6 months or so I came back and banged her for another 3 months. We had a big fight and I walked out on her."
"I now want to go back to her but she won't talk to me. I don't understand, I've been so loyal to her. What's her problem?"
I think I see the problem. She is obviously mentally unstable. Why else would she not take you back?

As stated before, your best bet is a staffing company. Transforce or Contracted Driver Services .... they will both keep you "on" as an employee even when you leave the country.
Transforce has a deal with Erickson Aviation over fire season that pays very well ... 1715 a week, with all hotels and transportation covered. Their other accounts tend to pay better than CDS. Transforce treats you as an "employee" and act like they have interest in you. They "try" to give you long term account assignments if you wish. CDS has no vested interest in you. They have enough work to keep you busy as long as you do what they want. You do the job or you do not do the job, they do not care ... they will just move on to the next guy on the list. -

OP, I respect you staying calm while typing to everyone on here. You have quite the mindset to think that they should just take you back and also while you talk bad about them. They did give you a job, money, and potentially a safe work environment 3 or 4 times.
I don't think much else needs to be said to be honest.
