BUT he did OK the truck with me
-
Of course he can report it stolen. You could report your car stolen right now if you wanted to.. But its not stolen so no worries.
If you just cant find it in you to call him then text or email or qualcom the SAFE location you will leave the equipment. Clean out the truck ,take pictures of EVERYTHING and leave it in the condition you recieved it.
You have made the decision to abondon the truck based on your circumstances so move on. Drivers have been abandoning trucks for decades for a wide range of reasons.. -
only thing is , the trailer is in dallas. i now , know they unloaded the trailer and moved it. i have his truck here in houston. he didnt threaten to report the truck stolen only report that i owe him money for the flight and taxi ride.

That's part of the OTR gig. What you should have done, as horrible as it sounds you, is told him you have a family emergency. If you were at the dock, you should've waited to get unloaded if he couldn't find a friend to pick your truck (which I doubt he could). After you should've parked the truck at a truck stop, and arranged with him to get a ticket, see your family. Once done, came back to the truck, and if you are done driving for him, then you return the truck to him. That would be the best way to do it.
Instead if you left the trailer in Dallas, at a dock, or whatever, that company is calling him, maybe even towing away his trailer, mean while his tractor is where ever you left it. That's a lot of cost for him, and headache. I think this could've been better resolved by both sides.
I had a driver abandon my truck and trailer once 2,000 miles away from home. He was sick, he was this, he was that, I let him sit a couple of days, and in reality he was just using drugs. I called to see what's going on after 5 days, and he didn't answer for a couple of days. I called the police, and the truck was empty...I had to fly out there to pick up the equipment. Why couldn't he drive 2,000 miles, get paid for it, and go do his drugs once my stuff is returned, and he isn't working for me anymore? I didn't pay him his last paycheck. He was probably on here asking questions lol. It cost me a lot of time and money, and then phone calls where he threaten me if I don't pay, which I gladly would wish he would come see me. If he returned the truck, said he doesn't want to drive. I would've paid him, and he could've been at the motel 6 doing whatever dope he likes to do. -
Where is he based out of? Tell him soon as your situation is better, you'll pick up the trailer, and bring it to him.
-
Who moved the trailer? Why didn't you leave the tractor with the trailer did he tell you to do so?
-
ok, but the trailer is empty in dallas, the truck is here in houston. he knew i left the trailer in dalls on wednesday night because i had to leave for my family emergency, i left dallas and drove two hours towards houston where my family was at. so now im home , but my family is still in hospital. my dad is having surgery in a few.
im just really confused, he wanted me abandon this other guy truck last month, to go to work for him but i wouldn't do it. if i leave his truck at a truck stop, will that be acceptable? -
chicago. i just talked to him but he says if i'm not by trailer monday morning hes doing what he has to do. whatever that means.
-
no he didnt' tell me to leave the trailer but i had a family emergency, he had told me the day before the worse case scenario that i could leave the trailer tho. so i figured it was ok due to my family emergency.
