He was flooded with love letters and sexy pictures; needless to say he had lots of pressure at home. -
Of course...I could put an end to all such shenanigans by simply sending back a picture of myself. Dogs don't bark when I walk by, they slink away and hide! -
I got a card and 150$ to spend at the Cummins / Peterbuilt / Company store if I chose to.

Chinatown Thanks this.

You know, again, just a sign of the times. With the exception of my union job, over the years, I've watched bonuses dwindle from a party ( nobody hardly showed up) to a bonus check ( with comments like "is that all"?) to a card, to shut up and quit complaining. It's just another indicator how much these companies value their drivers. Not the union job, though. They put on this big dinner event, honored the drivers with a bonus and a safety pin, and it was a huge deal. Sadly, all those drivers were replaced by outside carriers. So there it is.
lagbrosdetmi and Canned Spam Thank this. -
On the flip side I have a small business with five employees. Ever since we started in 2007 I have gave Christmas bonuses of some sort. Last year was really good for business and I gave everyone $1000. One guy said thanks. This year that guy got $1000 again and said thanks again and the others got less than half that. I don't expect my guys to get on their knees and kiss butt or anything but it gets old passing out 5k at the holidays without even a simple thanks. I have had from 5-10 employees and over the past 8 years I bet I have got maybe five "thanks" for the 50+ Christmas bonuses I have personally hand delivered.

Wow you would hate working for me. I don't do bonuses or crap like that.
This year, like other years I tell the guys you either work over the holidays or get booted.
Bah Humbug!
Seriously we have done something for everyone in the fleet, including the manager who runs the day by day crap for me. This year it was a bit difficult to arrange but we don't accept loads after the 21 or 22 and have them park the truck in paid parking or one of the company yards. Then they get to go home (or to their select destination), no matter where ever they are at until the first of the new year on our dime. They get a couple gift cards, a card to some clothing store local to them and some other things from the company we get passed on to them.
