The U.S. Marshals will probably arrest the OP.

To those who don't get this, abandoning a truck with the owner having no knowledge of where it is and not secured can be considered stolen, leading to a felony charge. The op can not only be charged but also be sued for all costs related to the recovery, it isn't a car that someone took for a joy ride or to strip.

This is one reason why I spend time and money to find the right people to drive my trucks, I would rather let it sit until the right person drives it than to have to deal with BS.

Ok, So I get a phone call Wensday night. I don't answer. Voice mail goes off. Hey Carl this is so and so.. Your mom has been in a car wreck. She's alive but in the hospital.. I call back, what happened? I'm told she is ok and and I say thanks.
Now I'm mty with no real plans.. Do I turn around and go home?
Nope, She's alive and being taken care of..
I call her the next day and we talk..
No reason to go there.. Oh I own this trk. and I have more than enough money for fuel.. So let's not go there on that.
But the thing is there is nothing you can do for them..
Yes they had a wreck, yes people are in the hospital.
Unless it's where you need to be there to take care of your kids because no one else can, you deliver your load. Request to get loaded for home or see if they will help get you home and make sure everyone is ok and then you go back to work..
Like Catalinaflyer posted, most employers will work with you on these issues
But I think Burger King or such a place is better suited for the poster. Just my thoughts

I think op had this planned for awhile and his family in this car wreck was the perfect time for him to quit.but he went about it the wrong way.he should have told his boss to route him back to Chicago then take bus home which he could have got with that 350.00 cash advance.

I think this is a little uncalled for.

There's absolutely NO reason with a little hard work and training the OP couldn't become a sandwich artist at Subway!

Am I the only one that noticed this all started because he didn't have a load or a way to get home for Thanksgiving, then the rest of the story.

No you're not. Oh well, but when drivers point fingers at chicago carriers this is why some of those drivers get treated the way they do.
