I don't know much about the flatbed side, but they are for the most part doing better than reefer and van. They have some good accounts with Toyota forklifts going into CA. Yeah there were several guys in my orientation class that brought their own trucks, just have pass DOT.

$3 a mile! yeah on loads 20 miles or lessfr8monkey Thanks this.
-
None of my business but from reading the negative posts here, seems like a guy with his own truck could lease to a much more stable outfit than Eagle. They may get the bugs worked out some day, but they don't seem to be there yet. Why not try Mercer, Jones, Admiral Merchants, Landstar... any of the more established carriers? There are lots of them out there.
-
Every company has its good and bad side, and from what I understand Mercer has a hiring freeze now till March. Biggest thing is a driver has to know their numbers, and follow the money, not just always run their favorite lane.
-
Were going to give eagle a try. I have experience and broker contacts already. Looking forward to accessing Landstar's loads. I could go somewhere else but I know they're all about the same. Have had 8 friends leave Landstar recently, favoring agents over BCO's. Mercer's not hiring right now. Admiral is Universal, I live near Detroit, so know about them, same as landstar.
Thanks for the info. I'll let ya know how it goes. -
Mercer only has a hiring freeze on the quality lease from what I understand if you have your own truck your good but heard there is still quite a wait line for trailers.
-
They said trailer might not be available until February. And not hiring for a while, even non-lease. Probably until freight picks back up.
-
Yeah a whole lot of Eagle guys went there earlier in the year. From what I see, Eagle has a lot to offer flatbed guys, and as long as your broker is approved by Eagle, as they are the ones who will dispatch the load you have accepted, your good to go.
-
Do you still work for eagke??? And if so how is it

I don't think Truckerpete is still with us, but if you have time read the tread, there is a lot of good and bad, but read it all then make up your mind from that.
