Single and 30 yrs old...perfect.
How tough are you? For you to do what you are planning, you have to be disciplined. Lots of people get into trucking because of money, but they need their hands held by office people. You're never gonna make money at anything if you're not goal driven and self motivated.
Many quit before they reach their goals because they can only see today, and not tomorrow. Too many times we read about someone quitting a company after making an agreement, and they start a thread about ramifications of breaking a contract. Of course, they're only hurting themselves.
Want to be an owner operator and make money? You want to make a name for yourself as providing good service. Remember that when things don't go your way in the trainer's truck. Do what you say you would do. Tomorrow, it will benefit you.
Give me the trucking get rich blueprint. lol

Finish school (get all endorsements on your license), research the companies where you want to apply, receive employment offers, choose the best place for YOUR initial trucking job, gain experience, apply to LTL companies, land a home everyday LTL job, make AT LEAST 50k/ year doing P&D with a sensible daylight schedule or run line haul at night for 80k +++ /year...De Trucker, Bob Dobalina, lagbrosdetmi and 1 other person Thank this.

Thanks for the info sir. I'm pretty tough. Grew up in the mean street to Flatbush Brooklyn lol. But yeah, working commission sales has definitely taught me the value of a dollar. I literally had to work for every penny.

Im mainly looking for a blueprint. For someone to describe the best road possible to become an owner operator. If you guys were starting over, how would you do it?

What kind of bills do you have now?. Another way to save money would be to reduce those or even eliminate some of them. You can live on a lot less money than you think you can.
If you can't save anything when earning $30K, there is a good chance you still won't save even when earning $50K. Simply put, the income isn't the issue, it's your expenses and life has a funny way of increasing one's expenses relative to any increase in income...unless you make a concerted effort to save.Da Beast, Longarm, Dye Guardian and 1 other person Thank this. -
i wasn't calling you out. Sorry if it sounded that way
Well I did the LP route and it worked for me but if I could do it again I would do it differently. First thing you really need is a year or two of running without getting a few accidents or tickets. Next you have to get out of the CPM habit. You either lease on to a percentage carrier or get your own numbers. With a year of experiance I would say you still have a lot to learn to have your own authority but I could be wrong. Either way once you do either of those it gets easy to make money. Just have to put your time in and learn the ropes.Da Beast and passingthru69 Thank this. -
the key is to not spend more than you make...and when you start making some good coin, don't spend that.

Very true. That is one of the main reasons I like trucking. I plan to give up my apartment when I go otr which will save me about a $1000 a month alone.Chewy352, tommymonza, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this.
