Yep, single turbo. 6NZ. I suffered with an emissions truck for 4 years and it tried like hell to break me.

 

I like the stacks... That's not Indigo Blue Effect by any chance is it? Who put it together for ya?

 

The color is called Midnight Blue. It is what they call "effect", it has big metal flake chips in the paint. In some light it looks kinda purple, sometimes it looks dark blue and in low night it looks black.
I got it from Elkhorn Valley Trucks in Fremont Ne. They sell Petes and KW's. I worked out the specs with them and the Kenworth dealer in Omaha. They are really pleasant people to work with and the build quality seems really good as far as I can tell so far.
Truck is getting the Tri-Pac reinstalled right now. I haven't pulled a trailer yet, just bobtailed it home so far.

 

You can't go wrong with the C15, imo it was the best engine made along with the 3406B and 3408. The 3406C and ACERTs were lemons. All these latest emission engines seem to be a pain to me.

 

I'm hoping what I hear about the 6NZ holds true. I had a 3406B before I left the industry years ago. Then I came back and ran into the emissions buzz-saw. The 3406 seemed like a pretty good engine and I guess Cat made some improvements with the 6NZ, so we'll see.

Looks like it is in really nice shape. Have you repainted it?

 

Nope, not yet.. Had to do a lot of clean up when I bought it bit but paint is still in fair shape. a little clear coat pealing but not too drastic. There were a number of paint chips but I've touched those up. still some work to do on the inside but all in all I'm pleased with the truck.
