I went to roadmaster. Excellent school go for it and dont look back. Like everywhere else (this site, life in general) you have your winners and losers. At roadmaster, just gravitate towards the goal-oriented winners and avoid the perpetual victim-mentality complainers. These losers will bring you down. Now study your f****** ### of and then study some more. Practice, practice practice. At roadmaster you can stay after hours to practice backing - USE EVERY MINUTE OF THIS TIME. These after hours they give you can and will be the difference between passing your first time or 2nd and 3rd time.

Ditch everything u own live in the truck.

Take home time out of hotels or in the truck with idle air.

That alone makes it more profitable than being a nurse with a two year degree 20000 investment non write off.

If you get a job delivery related you can write off your dumbly 5000 investment.
    As an "improved skill"
Obama has grant money out there the states spend to where you just apply and claim to live in the state for 1 year.

    So in some cases=
    0$ investment
$120 (or lower phone expense) company mandated a month.

2-3 week time investment to get the license.

Boom you are banking $30k+ in your first year!!!! For nothing but a couple weeks class time investment!

Anything u paid federal u essentially get back. I called it paying to the Christmas club.

Buy you a house....cash....rent it.... Mortgage that one.....buy another....repeat and pay off until you own the entire town and don't HAVE to do anything.

    What I did :p

I drive local for pure fun just because it really is still fun to me shifting these big trucks.
Well....daycab sterling with a back window isn't big.... But its still fun.

I'm not a mechanic and never want to learn it. So owning a big truck wasn't for me.

Anyway....trucking will never make you rich....but the capital you gain from having zero expenses and how you invest that capital.....certainly will my friend.

You could go buy a truck but trucks lose value over time. Smarter investments out there.

I much enjoy watching ppl bring me money in my underwear.

About 6 months ago I was looking at a school up in Tampa and than going to michigan and doing 6 months with Schneider which after that they would let you into the choice lease program.
After comparing the end of year figures of hotel and school in Tampa and than 6months with Schneider at 22 cpm and having to live back in michigan to get hired and hopefully making some money the following 6 months in the Choice program.

I felt I was ahead going thru Henderson s school for 4 weeks with supplied private lodging and meals and than 6 to 8 weeks over the road with a trainer earning 500 dollars a week

After that I would get my own truck. Earning. 38 cpm 2200 miles garaunteed .

The school bill is 4600 of which 400 is cash they give you the first month during school.

They deduct 75 a week after you get in the truck and after 6 months they give you a grand towards your school bill and another grand after a year.

Check out Sheridan Tech before you sign up with roadmaster. It is a very good school with a 320hr program and as it is part of Broward County public school system it is considerably cheaper than private schools.

I went when it was at the old site in Davie and as the instructors were also DMV examiners, you did the driving test with them which I thought made it much easier as you weren't as nervous with a stranger sat beside you giving you the test.

Good to know that Henderson will hire out of FL and as far south as Naples. They are the first on my list for when I start applying in a couple months time.

I have not attended the Henderson program yet. Still on the fence.

The one thing I liked about Henderson is I could live in sw Florida and still be hired for otr.

I have no desire to do local ,actually can't wait to get out of naples for a while maybe come back every 6 months do my home time up in michigan or out west if they get me out there.

I am much the same, in that I want to keep my S Fla address for tax and other practical purposes, but I have no desire to spend any time there.
