I'm looking at 3 schools in SoCal.
Toro, Dootson, and American Trucking.
Toro has bad reviews, but can I pass and get a job? That's what I care about.
Dootson/American seem like their reviews are fake so...
Tips on figuring out which one I should do?
Also, how long is my license good for, before it goes bad, do I have to renew, etc. in case I decide to take an extended break (maybe go back to a college for 2 years) before I start applying as a truck driver.

Make sure the one you choose is 160 hr. course.
I'd pick the cheapest one if money is tight.
If you have a specific company you want to work for, call and ask which school they would hire from.
I think KKW Trucking doesn't care as long as you have a CDL. -
This site has a map for the best trucking schools in California. It all comes down to "Accreditation", the trucking schools that are accredited are the ones you should look toward. Then second, cost. I have seen some schools that will charge you $1300 for trucking school, in 2016, that is too low and most likely they are not accredited. Once you have done your research, pick the best school for you!
